I'm on the fringe of the infamous, double trouble Storms. Shrub Jr. has already declared a state of emergency ( Gee, on the spot there Jeb, now how about Taxes, Education, Welfare, Development, Water Resources, Posioning the aquifer, overdrawing the enviroment, anything? Hello? No? I didn't think so.
Note to you all out there non-natives to Florida. Hurricanes are DANGEROUS. Really. They make normal intelligent people act like complete morons. What is going to make landfall in the next couple of days will NOT be another Andrew, or Donna. But the Infotainment complex is whipping up old news footage and showing it constantly. 'Watch us, we'll scare the S out of you, News at 11'
I'm a Native Floridian. Eathquakes scare me silly, I'd run amok with arms akimbo if the ground started shaking beneath me. Hurricanes, Tornados, Lightning, Alligators(Gators) don't scare me. I am however, a realist. I know when not to finish a golf game, get out of a lake, or take cover. I know the safest part of my house, and I know when to cut a run. I know that if I do, most stuff stays behind, but these storms are not one of those, not where I live. But right now Home Depot and Lowes are running out of Rope, Plywood, and Duct Tape and half the people buying it don't know what to do with it.
Tommorrow, The news will start running pieces on supplies running low, and that You shouldn't leave your lawn chairs out in the yard. Friday they'll sent reporters to the coast so they can stand in the rain an report 'on site' that the storm is comeing, and how great they are and will do everything to stay on the air during this 'Crisis'. People will buy this. Humanity is Doomed. Individuals, are generally smart, but this is inversly proportional to the number of people present.
Read the Lyrics to Tool's 'AEnima', and you'll know exactly how I feel
